Jarkki (“we”, “us”, “our”) is an AI-powered medical education application for students preparing for medical examinations. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights. By using Jarkki, you agree to this policy.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following information so the app can function:

• Account information: your name, email address, and password (stored securely and never in plain text).
• Profile information: your university, study level, country, and target examination, which we use to show you relevant questions.
• Learning activity: your quiz answers, scores, study performance, streaks, and progress, which power your personalised study experience and the leaderboard.
• Purchase information: if you buy a subscription or make a one-time purchase, your payment is processed by the Google Play billing system. We do not receive or store your card details; we store only your purchase and subscription status.
• Usage and analytics data: information about how you interact with the app — such as screens viewed, features used, and events like starting a quiz or opening the AI tutor — collected through a third-party analytics service to help us understand and improve the app.
• Diagnostic and crash data: technical information about errors and crashes (such as device type, operating system, and error details), collected through a third-party crash-reporting service so we can detect and fix problems.
• Technical information: basic device and connection information needed to operate the app.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide and personalise your learning experience, including the AI tutor and your Knowledge Genome.
• To operate features such as quizzes, spaced-repetition cards, the leaderboard, and seasonal progress.
• To manage your account, subscription, and communications (such as subscription confirmations and account emails like password resets).
• To understand how the app is used, measure feature performance, and improve the product.
• To detect, diagnose, and fix crashes, errors, and security issues.
• To maintain the security and integrity of the platform.

3. The AI Tutor (JARIS)

JARIS, our in-app AI tutor, processes your study performance and your messages to provide personalised tutoring. Conversations may be processed by a third-party AI provider to generate responses. We do not use your conversations to identify you to third parties for advertising.

4. Payments

Payments for subscriptions and one-time purchases are handled by the Google Play billing system. Your payment information is collected and processed directly by Google under its own privacy policy and security standards. Jarkki never receives or stores your card details.

5. Analytics and Crash Reporting

We use third-party services to help us operate and improve Jarkki:

• Product analytics: we use an analytics provider to collect aggregated and event-level information about how the app is used (for example, which features are opened and how the study experience flows). This helps us improve the app. It is not used to advertise to you.
• Crash and error reporting: we use a crash-reporting provider to capture technical details when the app encounters an error, so we can fix it.

These providers process this information on our behalf and only as needed to deliver their service.

6. Sharing of Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with service providers who help us operate the app — including our hosting and database provider, payment processor, AI provider, analytics provider, crash-reporting provider, and email provider — and only as needed to deliver the service. Your name and study performance may be visible to other users on the leaderboard; you control your display through your profile.

7. International Data Transfers

Jarkki relies on service providers that may store and process your information on servers located outside Nigeria, including in the European Union and other regions. Where your information is transferred internationally, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled in line with this policy and applicable data-protection laws. By using Jarkki, you consent to your information being processed in these locations.

8. Data Retention and Deletion

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the app (Profile → Delete Account). Deletion is permanent and irreversible, and any active subscription is cancelled at the same time.

9. Your Rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. You can edit your profile information in the app, and delete your account at any time. For other requests, contact us using the details below. We handle personal data in line with applicable data-protection laws, including the Nigeria Data Protection Act.

10. Children

Jarkki is intended for adult, university-level medical students and is not directed at anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a person under 18 has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will take steps to remove it.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the “Last updated” date above when we do. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
